Music ask.

I haven’t really done many personal posts, but I have a lot of work to do and need something to procrastinate with:

  1. Favorite bands. - The Grateful Dead is my favorite band. Prince, Hot Tuna, War, Talking Heads, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Staple Singers, The White Stripes, Phish, The Beatles… they all rank pretty high. Of course I love solo artists too… Mississippi John Hurt, Judy Garland, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell…
  2. The first band you ever liked. - Queen? Milli Vanilli?
  3. Favorite genre of music and why. - Fuck genre.
  4. Least favorite genre of music and why. - Fuck genre.
  5. Favorite singer? - Judy Garland? Probably Judy Garland. No one does it like Judy.
  6. Favorite guitarist? - Probably Trey Anastasio? If not for his playing, for that incredible resonating guitar.
  7. Favorite bassist? - Jaco Pastorius. The electric bass wouldn’t be what it is today without him.
  8. Favorite drummer? - Keith Moon… what an adorable animal.
  9. If you could only listen to one band for the rest of your life - The Grateful Dead
  10. Five favorite [live] albums. - Judy at Carnegie Hall, War Live, Lou Reed’s Rock & Roll Animal, The Last Waltz, Bob Dylan & The Rolling Thunder Review
  11. Put your itunes on shuffle, list 20 songs that come up. - I haven’t really had an itunes library that represents me since college.
  12. How many songs do you have in your itunes? - Don’t know.
  13. 10 songs you could never get tired of. - Hot Tuna - Embryonic Journey
  14. 10 most played songs on your itunes. - c’mon now. I stream music on the internet, have tons of LPs, and love the radio in NYC.
  15. How many cds or albums do you have? - Let’s just say I’m not looking forward to moving day.
  16. How many band posters do you have? - Dozens.
  17. How many band shirts do you own? - Dozens.
  18. List all the concerts you’ve been to. - HA!!! I used to record every concert I went to until about 2004 on my page at Phishhook.com
  19. Tell us about your favorite concert. - This wasn’t my favorite concert but it was one of the most meaningful: My College Essay
  20. Do your friends listen to the same music you do? - Actually no, not really. There’s always common ground with funk and soul though.
  21. Songs that make you cry. - Many…
  22. Songs that make you laugh. - Phish
